Momentous Issues Made Simple: Color
Color can have a lot to do with our perception of life. What does color mean to you? It may sound like a silly question but when you think about it, we think a lot about color in our day to day lives. Sometimes it is as simple as, what should I wear? What matches with this shirt? Other times color can influence our preference in purchasing something. Do I want the rainbow color sprinkles on top? I think the white cell phone case would look better. Cheetah sunglasses are too over the top, maybe I’ll just go for a simple black. The list of examples goes on and on. But did you know that we can do the same thing when it comes to how we perceive people? Let’s get serious for a moment and think about a time where race may have influenced the way we reacted to someone. “Color” or rather race does matter. It is something that should be reflected upon, talked about, explored, and most importantly celebrated. Just like how the colors in this picture work so wonderfully together, so should we as we encourage diversity around ourselves.
